Insurance and Fees

I’m a private pay, out-of-network (OON) provider. I am not in-network with any insurance companies or EAP programs. I can provide a superbill (basically a receipt) for your payments to assist you in seeking reimbursement from your insurance company. If you decide to use your insurance for partial reimbursement for out-of-network psychotherapy, please call your insurance company to clarify what they cover. Also, you need to know that if you decide to use your insurance coverage or submit a claim for reimbursement, confidential information will be required to process your claims. I do not file claims on your behalf. Be aware that using your insurance coverage by submitting a claim for reimbursement may carry a certain amount of risk to: (1) Confidentiality – insurance companies typically want a diagnosis before they will pay for treatment. (2) Privacy – in addition to a diagnosis, some insurance companies want additional documentation. I have no control with whom or what your insurance company shares regarding your information. (3) limits regarding future eligibility, and (4) ability to obtain some health or life insurance.

It is important to remember that you always have the right to pay for my services yourself to avoid the problems described above. There are benefits for clients who choose private pay therapy instead of using insurance, which include:

• You have the choice to choose any therapist.

• The course and length of treatment is not set by the insurance company – You have the independence to work with your therapist to determine treatment length.

• Your therapist will not have to share your treatment and diagnosis with an insurance company leading to increased confidentiality.

• If your insurance changes, there is no interruption of therapy and your therapist may remain the same.
